Welcome! I have set up this board for those who would like to discuss, specifically, writing among members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
This year should be an eventful year for the church and writers of all types have a great opportunity to have an effect on the world and the church. Whether you write lyrics, blogs, novels, newspaper, screen plays or letters to family, words have influence and power.
Hope you will join me.

Yay! I'm here! I got word out to Paul and Charlie, too. Hey, how cool: being an admin means automatic promotion to 5-star general

Hey ya'll. Good to hear from you. Charlie, you have a new book coming out. Which one? When? You have been busy then because the last I heard you claimed you were being lazy. I have written a few blogs and my newspaper column, but nothing on my book. We have a bee festival in two weeks, I have taught two beginning beekeeping classes, and worked on dulcimers. I have a grand son getting baptized in a month and want to have his dulcimer ready as a present. Then I have two more in various stages I am building for other grand children. Then I wonder why I can't get any writing done. Oh, I have also just finished reading the Hunger Game series. My wife read the first book to me on a trip a year or two ago. So we went to see the movie. I thought they did a good job with it. So with that experience I downloaded the next two books onto the Kindle and finished them in two days (or should I say sleepless nights?). I used to do that sort of thing all the time when i was younger, but I sure pay a high price now. Good books though. I hope our national leaders are reading them. Hope others can join, although I don't know how to get any words out to new folks. This site seems to be similar to the old one, but I still don't know how to run it. By the way, Sachiko, I will not accept any stars, general or specific. I hate being in charge of anything accept myself, and I am not too good at that either.

HELLO!!! I'm back! THis is wonderful. Thank you Gary and CHarlie and Sachiko! It will take me a while to get to used to all the little gadgets I can use...like the emoticons and the bold and the colors and.... Well, I'll explore more later. Right now I'm still working on my third novel and enjoying it. Went to go see The Hunger Games last night and did not enjoy it. It was not at all how I envisioned it when I read the book and they left out a lot of things I thought were important. But, alas, Suzanne's book is a megablock buster movie so I have little room to say anything! It's great to be on board again T. Lynn

The book is titled Culpability and Absolution, Gary. Scheduled for release end of July by RJ Buckley Publishing, a smaller publishing house in Arizona. They publish about ten books a year. I will post more about this as time gets closer. My feeble attempt at promotion.
Sure glad our little group is getting reacquainted. Just need Paul and Michael to join us.
Gary, I suspect you're a born leader.

Gary, Did you like the other two Hunger Game books? I very much liked the first one (except the last page and a half when she was thinking about going back to Gale....grrrrr) I hestitated reading the sequels because the synopsis I found on line did not seem very interesting to me. I have contacted MW and given him this site address. Hopefully he'll show up soon. He likes your idea, Charlie, of writing a novel using real ancestors. I, too, think that is a neat way of honoring your ancestors. I wonder what they think.... [shadow=red,left,300]T. Lynn[/shadow]

MWright reporting in. Nice to see familiar faces. I caught a bug awhile back and still haven't quite shaken it.... ok, so it's the Family History bug; but hey, it's still hard to shake. I don't really have a good excuse; but this new site will give me a clean slate to keep me in the right direction. Now that I've done more Family History work I really like Charlie's idea about having a historical fiction novel about my ancestors. EDIT: Oh, and Rahmuss is a name I made up a loooong time ago. And he's the main character in the first real book idea I thought of (and also the main char in a book I started to write in 7th grade).

It is Easter morning, and it is also Passover. Isn't it interesting that both celebrate being saved from death? Death, of course, being the one thing no human "APPEARS" to escape. This makes religion the ultimate escape from reality, just like it's critics claim. But it also makes religious people the most optimistic. hard working, and successful people in living.

Good morning! Thought I would report on a little writing exercise I completed this week end. I wrote a fairy tale, with an attitude. I actually wrote it for my grand daughter who is 17 and struggling with what to do with her life. It's called "The Boy Who Thought Everything Was All About Him". I start telling a story to a person who is off camera but obviously a very snarky young person who keeps interrupting with questions and wise comments.
I don't think that most of my writing is going to have a very large audience. First, I am not very diligent at trying to sell any of it. Second I allow myself to get into too many things. I could go on with three and four, but it wouldn't serve any purpose. I still enjoy writing however and I just gave my recent CD to the Ward for Easter. Our Sunday School lesson yesterday was on the book of Jacob in the BoM. I think I like him, and that seems related to this paragraph somehow.
Sachiko, enjoy the truck while you can. I drive a little Ford Ranger pickup, periwinkle blue (but that's another story) and it seems like every Sat. I end up at Home Depot for something. Do you know how intimidating the parking lot of Home Depot is on Saturdays? It is filled with huge 4x4 tracks with four wheel drive and jacked up high. I feel like I am driving a toy. For thois of you who don't know what we are talking about, go read her latest post on her blog.
Charlie, congrats on your book. be sure and let us know when the time comes. I'll for sure buy one.
OK, off to a bunch of stuff that isn't writing but they say needs to be done.

Had a good Easter. Family here at the house and good food. I will talk more about the book, Gary, as time for release approaches. However, like you I am not a salesman.

Yes, tell us about the novel and when it will be released. Also, Gary, did you know you are a guest at this site even though you are the site's founder and administrator? OR DO WE HAVE ANOTHER GARY VISITING??!!!!! That would be cool to have two. I sat in the doctors office for two hours today and got a lot done on my novel. When I think and can bring along my lap top I actually don't mind waiting at the doctor's office because it's the only place I can type without interruption! At home there are family members and phone calls. And even if I get bold enough to take my computer to a school event like a concert, someone always wants to visit or my child is up performing...can you believe that?? So, at the doctor's office today I got a lot done! T. Lynn

I think it is because I just sign in as Gary. I signed in as Gary McCallister this time to see if it changes. It would certainly be frightening if there were two of us. NO writing to day but I read part of a great book. My wife has been keeping a journal this year and has been very faithful. I read what she has written so far and it was a tremendous experience. Not because it is a cool story, but because it helped me so much keep in mine what she and i are trying to do together. I tend to loose focus. Yeah, I know that's a big surprise.
